Entergy Nuclear

Energy consumption is projected to increase by 32% in the next two decades. At Entergy Nuclear, we have an advantage. We're a part of the only industry that has the capability to meet this large-scale need in an environmentally friendly way.

Nuclear power is the most eco-efficient energy source given its high power generation with minimal environmental impact.

Nuclear plant air emissions are almost nonexistent because nothing is burned in the nuclear electricity generating process. In fact, by substituting for the use of fossil fuels in electricity generation, U.S. nuclear power plants currently prevent 2 million tons of nitrogen oxide emissions and 168 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually.

In addition, water discharged from nuclear plants does not come into contact with radioactive materials and is safely discharged under administrative and in-plant procedures. Nuclear power also makes relatively small demands on land in terms of fuel extraction and plant site size.

Entergy Nuclear

Entergy Nuclear is part of Entergy Corporation, a global energy company based in New Orleans.  The nuclear businesses of Entergy Corporation are guided from the Jackson, Mississippi headquarters under the brand name of Entergy Nuclear. The company has transformed itself from a regional power utility into a national nuclear operating company through an aggressive acquisition program, begun in 1988 as one of the parent corporation’s principal growth strategies. At that time, when most utilities wanted to divest their nuclear units, Entergy Nuclear knew that the 103 nuclear units across the nation had unrealized value and potential that could be tapped by a knowledgeable, experienced nuclear operator. Acquisition of six nuclear reactors since 1999 had made Entergy Nuclear the second largest nuclear operating company in the country and the largest in the Northeast.

Entergy Nuclear is a recognized leader in every aspect of the nuclear power plant life cycle.
